What’s New?
From 7 August 2025, the Australian Government has expanded the list of accepted English language tests for Student visa applications. This change provides more flexibility for international students to meet the English language requirements.Key Points to Know
- More test options available – You now have 9 different tests to choose from
- Previously approved tests remain valid – All existing approved tests continue to be accepted
- No change to English level requirements – The required proficiency level remains the same, though some score equivalents have been adjusted
- Tests from 7 August 2025 – Results from the updated list are accepted if taken on or after this date
- 24-month validity – Tests taken before 6 August 2025 remain valid for 24 months for visa applications
Complete List of Accepted Tests
The following English language tests are now accepted for Australian Student visas:- Cambridge C1 Advanced Test (C1 Advanced)
- Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program General (CELPIP General)
- IELTS Academic
- IELTS General Training
- LANGUAGECERT Academic Test
- Michigan English Test (MET)
- Occupational English Test (OET)
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)
- TOEFL iBT (note: minimum score increased from 64 to 67)
