Important news for international students planning to work while studying in Australia: The Australian Government has announced a 3.5% increase to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages, effective from 1 July 2025.
Understanding Australia’s Wage System
In Australia, every worker is entitled to minimum wages – the legal minimum amount employers can pay employees. The minimum wage is reviewed annually by the Fair Work Commission.

| Increase | 3.5% |
The new rates apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.
